Orange & White Were Used Just Right @ New York Fashion Week
Another New York Fashion Week has come and gone, and with that comes a plethora of trends for the Spring 2014 season. Lots of shows presented gave us exactly what you would expect from a Spring collection: prints, pastel colors, crop tops, and easy to wear.
BCBGMAXAZARIA was the first of the big designers to show this year at New York Fashion Week, and it was the beginning of a trend that would continue for the week: WHITE! With the fashion industry being so obsessed with colors for the past few seasons, white seemed to be a nice surprise to the Spring 2014 runways. We later saw a collection from major designer Alexander Wang, who used white in many designs, as well. We also saw architectural designs from both BCBG and Wang, which was forecasted to be a trend this season. BCBG made strong architectural sportswear, while Wang made architectural tomboy-ish designs for his models to present.
Orange was the bold color choice for the Spring 2014 season. We saw bright orange in several New York Fashion Week collections from Christian Siriano, Monique lhuillier, DKNY, and Prabal Gurung. Siriano presented many bellowing dresses in brighter shades of orange, while lhuillier used it in more structured gowns. DKNY used the color to make their street style have an extra pop in it, while Prabal Gurung used it in lip makeup for his models to accent his very muted white and pastel clothing designs.
Some shows that really stood out this year were Tory Burch, Prabal Gurung, Tommy Hilfiger, and first time shower Opening Ceremony, who had their models come out of Lamborghinis and Porsches. Burch created a collection with a 60s French theme that had the audience dazzled, and young Hollywood feigning to get their hands on. Gurung put on a show by having all the models on the stage in plastic cases, as to present the entire collection as once, and then having them walk the runway one at a time. Tommy Hilfiger represented Southern California in his beach themed runway, sand and all. It was like a scene out of Santa Monica, with clothing inspired from Beverly Hills to Venice.
From what we have seen from New York Fashion Week, we are excited to see what Jami Lyn Women’s Clothes will be getting in for the Spring 2014 season. Check in to stay updated on all of our latest trends and styles for any and every season.
